GRS/GRC Cell-Cell Fusion 2011

Confocal image showing tip-growing and branched, multinucleate hyphae of Neurospora crassa.  The nuclei are shown in green (nuclear-targeted GFP) and membranes, especially the plasma membrane and secretory vesicles, are shown in red (stained with FM4-64) (Hickey & Read 2003).

February 2011

Nick Read has been awarded in November 2010 a three-year grant from Wellcome Trust in collaboration with Elaine Bignell (Imperial College London). The three-year project is entitled: " Mechanistic insights and tools for disrupting calcium signalling/homeostasis in the pathogenic mould Aspergillus fumigatus".

January 2011

The lab welcomed two honours project students - Gregor Kolbe and Akira Alexander and said farewell to Dr Alexander Lichius.
